Quality always comes with a price. At Dr. Feriduni Hair Clinic, we ensure the best treatment from A to Z. And that also counts for the material that is used during the surgery. Everything needs to meet the highest standards for Dr. Feriduni. In case of the extraction of the hairs from the donor area (the back of the head), our team is currently working with new Waw Duo FUE System from Devroye Instruments. This way of top-notch hybrid tornado punching is completely tailored to doctors' needs. Let's get a closer look on this device.
The Hybrid Tornado punch shares the advantages of both sharp and blunt punches in one: it allows to penetrate the skin deeper with minimal trauma to grafts. The main advantage of the Hybrid Tornado Punch is to increase the quality of each graft extracted:
This lightweight WAW wireless handpiece is connected to a sophisticated application. The wireless system grants a flexible and smooth control with additional freedom of movement. It was designed by considering the main challenges faced by surgeons nowadays. The perfect combination of the rotational and oscillatory motion with just the speed and duration of the movement needed, with a lightweight handpiece for the perfect results, and a wireless charging station that allows charging multiple handpieces at the same time.
On the tablet you can choose your preferences in which this mode enables to control rotation motion and oscillation motion. All the settings can be customized from setting the speed of the punch for both oscillation and rotational motions to being able to choose the duration of the punch movement. The sensitivity of the pedal can be controlled by the app. This is how we manage to get the perfect combination of the rotational and oscillatory motion with the appropriate time and speed to reach high-level results!
This allows Dr. Feriduni to perform at a higher level by selecting different settings and by offering more flexibility and precision.
“Last week I performed five transplants. Three of them were corrections.” Renowned hair specialist Dr. Bijan Feriduni - who receives a lot of regular and well-known people in his clinic in Hasselt - rings the alarm: those who go to cheap places for helmet waving haircuts have an 80 percent chance of returning with problems. Other cosmetic doctors also have to provide a lot of aftercare. What exactly is going wrong?
When it comes to hair transplants, doctor Feriduni is regarded as an authority in Belgium. Not only ordinary people, but also famous people such as De Romeo's singer Gunther Levi come to him with bald spots or receding hairlines. At the moment, there is a waiting time for a consultation until April 2024. Due to the high demand, because since corona time more people than ever want to change their appearance. Figures are difficult to find, because many cosmetic treatments are not reimbursed by the NIHDI. But to give you an idea: at ISAPS, the international association for plastic surgeons, they speak of an annual increase of 20 percent.
So the demand is there, but specialists increasingly also have to correct other people's work, says doctor Feriduni. “It concerns patients who often go to southern countries because it is cheaper there. In my experience, 80 percent of them have problems afterwards.” In his private clinic, Feriduni sees disappointed, almost crying men almost every day, which is why he wants to raise this. “What could go wrong? First: the hairline that has an unnatural shape. Southern men often have a straight hairline, while Caucasian types tend to grow in a V-shape or M-shape. You have to respect that. Sometimes the hairline is also too low, so that the proportions of the face are no longer correct.” Feriduni continues: “Secondly, it is often forgotten that men have temporal peaks on the sides. They lie above the sideburns, it is a piece of hair that grows angularly in the face along the temples. If this is forgotten during a transplant, the hair will grow in round curves along the head, which we call the Mickey Mouse effect.”

Basically, all this can still be corrected, at least if there is enough hair capital left. But there, too, the shoe pinches. “In order to transplant hair, it must first be able to be ‘harvested’,” explains Dr. Feriduni. “That often happens at the back of the head, where balding men still have the most growth. This 'harvesting' must be done carefully and with high-quality blades. Preferably, the hair is removed one by one or in small tufts. Unfortunately, in bad clinics this happens with larger 'carpets'. That goes faster and reduces costs, but afterwards it often gives scar tissue, so you can no longer harvest hairs.”
"You can do wonderful things with a hair transplant, but I have to say to 30 percent of the men who visit me: Sorry, you are not a good candidate. Within 10 years you will be left with holes and pickings."
With a correction, the wrong-placed and -directed hairs are first removed one by one. Note how this man had been given a hairline in the front, but the field behind it was underfilled (left). If enough hair capital can still be harvested in the neck, those holes can still be closed. © RV © Photo News
Marianne consulted Dr. Feriduni in the summer of 2021. Obviously one can tell she is a natural beauty of whom you could never guess her age. Good genes, quoi? But there was one thing Marianne was struggling with: the fact that -besides surgery- there was nothing she could do about her high hairline.
“One day I was walking outside with a colleague. The wind blew through my hair. She looked surprised at my high hairline saying, I was lucky to have bangs to cover it! For me it was kind of the last straw. She was not the first to make this kind of unwanted statement, but she got to be the last. Today I'm enjoying wearing my hair back – without receiving any strange comments like that.”
After the consultation, the case was clear for Marianne and she decided to go for it. Saying goodbye to what was, looking forward for what will come. Her treatment was scheduled a few months later. Dr. Feriduni performed a FUE with macrostrips, meaning there were 2 areas shaven on the back of her head from where the grafts were extracted. The total amount of transplanted grafts to redesign a natural hairline was 2894.
Now, after almost 2 years, the result shows: Marianne is simply glowing. She even mentions that she does not notice any difference in density where she had her macrolines. How great is that!

In November 2019, Francesco came to Dr. Feriduni to talk about his hair loss. A kind and clever 62-year old Belgian man who loves a healthy way of life, salsa dance and is helping disabled people with groceries etc.
My hair loss only started in my late 50's. I noticed I started to compare my hair more and more with other men of my age. It took me about 5 years to finally start looking for a decent and reliable solution. And that's how I got to Dr. Feriduni.
Francesco decided to deal with his hair issues and discussed the options with Dr. Feriduni to have his hairline restored as natural as possible. After an extensive conversation during the personal consultation and specific examinations, they agreed on having a hair transplantation. On December 9, Dr. Feriduni performed an FUE with 2687 FU.
Francesco came to visit Dr. Feriduni after a half year to have everything checked properly. It was already a remarkable result, given the short timeframe.
The doctor complemented him on the fact that he shows quite a resemblance with George Clooney, a celebrity to whom a lot of patients refer when it comes to their hairline design. Francesco decided to grow a beard like George and we started planning a professional photoshoot in 3 months. The theme: George Clooney, who else? We proudly present the result of the photoshoot at only 9 months postop of Francesco, who's more than happy to have a coffee - what else? - with us and ready to suit up.
I think that when something bothers you in your daily routine and you can do something about it, you should. I try to live a healthy life and appreciate the small things in life. But my hair loss was something I could not control myself, so I decided to found a solution. Life's too short to worry.
