Laughing gas
Patient-friendly sedation
Laughing gas
Nitrous oxide or “laughing gas” is an extra service Dr. Feriduni may offer to help make you more comfortable during the procedure. Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax. It is not intended to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions Dr. Feriduni may have.
How does it work?
The head nurse will ask you to breathe normally through your nose, and within a few short minutes you should start to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide. You may feel light-headed or a tingling in your arms and legs. Some people say their arms and legs feel heavy. Ultimately, you should feel calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed.
On the day of your treatment, you will have the option to choose for the use of laughing gas. This is completely up to the patient, it is an extra service we offer but absolutely not a must in order to achieve a successful procedure. In case you do want to have laughing gas before the surgery, you will be asked to fill in and sign the agreement during your check-in at the clinic.
“Patients often feel nervous and some of them are anxious to feel pain. That's why I offer the use of nitrous oxide which makes the stress disappear and that gives the patient a better feeling.”
Further sedation
Generally, the patient is being given Midazolam as a sedative. This has an effect similar to that of valium. Midazolam is an imidazole benzodiazepine that has depressant effects on the central nervous system with rapid onset of action and few adverse effects. The drug is being administered intravenous. The donor area is also numbed by a local anaesthetic prior to extraction. Dr. Feriduni and at least 2 - 3 medical assistants are present throughout the sedation procedure.
After the sedation is done, Dr. Feriduni starts with preparing the areas to be treated. To optimise the surface, a solution is being injected with a microneedle. There can be a small discomfort of the needle, and therefor Dr. Feriduni also uses a small vibrating tool (tool left hand of the doctor) to minimise this sense of the needle. Literally everything is being taken into account to offer the best and most painfree treatment at Dr. Feriduni Hair Clinic.
“My pain level is extremely high, I have had this my whole life. Luckily, Dr. Feriduni ensured me he would do his utmost to optimise my comfort during the procedure. And so he did, I am grateful for the service and feelgood the whole team manages to give to their patients!”

» Dr. Feriduni |
