Preoperative guidelines
Preparation is important. For an optimal procedure, it is advisable to respect the preoperative guidelines as close as possible:
1. Smoking
It is recommended not to smoke at least 24 hours before the procedure because it is not conducive to wound healing and increases the risk of infection.
2. Alcohol
It is advisable not to consume alcohol at least 72 hours before the procedure as this stimulates blood circulation and increases the risk of infection.
3. Blood work
This is not necessary preoperatively, only in case you have a significant physical complaint, then can you see to your doctor for a blood test.
4. Vitamin B and E
These vitamins stimulate blood circulation and are therefore not recommended to be taken at least 7 to 10 days before the procedure.
5. Medication
Anti-inflammatories and medication containing 2-(acetyloxy)benzoic acid such as aspirin should not be taken 7 to 10 days before the procedure.
6. Antidepressants/anticoagulants
If you are taking antidepressants or anticoagulant medication, please inform Dr. Feriduni in advance and take your medication to the clinic.
7. Stimulants and narcotics
No use indicated 7 to 10 days before the procedure.
8. Minoxidil lotion
It is not recommended to use Minoxidil lotion from 1 day before the procedure. This lotion contains propylene glycol which can cause irritation and dry out the skin.
9. Timing
Please come to the clinic at the indicated time.
10. Clothing
It is advisable to wear a top that you can easily put over your head (wide neck, buttons or zipper). When you are welcomed in your private room, you will be given specific surgical clothing that you can wear. This is trousers, a t-shirt and disinfected shoes. You only need to keep your underwear on the bottom. Your clothes and personal belongings are safe in your private room during your procedure.
11. Taxi
Our private driver can take you to and from the clinic if this is requested and approved in advance. On the day of the procedure, this service is included in the Hasselt region. On other days, the costs of the taxi service will be charged.
